Sisterhood of the World ~ Blogger Award

by - 10/02/2015

I got nominated for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award by Agate of Latvian MantraI was defiantly not expecting to be nominated! What a great way to support other bloggers and come together as a community! This totally reminds me of those chain letters I would receive in the mail as a child!

Here's how it works:

I answer Agate's questions then I nominate five of my favourite bloggers and ask them five questions of my own.

Agates questions for me:

1. What is your favourite place in India? On our last trip to India we went to Coorg in Karnataka. It's perhaps one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen! Coorg is famous for coffee, black pepper, and other spices. I hope when we're old we can retire there!

2. What was your first impression of India upon arriving and how has it changed? My first impression was how hot it was at one in the morning! Hahaha. And holy shit there's a lot of people waiting for arrivals! Honestly my impressions of India have not changed. I don't think I've ever experienced culture shock in India simple because I was well aware of what to expect in India and had previously spent time with my MIL in Canada.

3. Tell your readers an interesting or funny story of what has happened to you in India. If anyone has the right to be terrified of monkeys or chimpanzees that would be me! I have a few stories related to these guys, today I'll just share one of those. My MIL, Husband, and I were visiting a temple in Vrindavan and as per usual when entering a temple we had removed our shoes and left them with an attendant. While my MIL was chatting with Panditji, Hubby and I collected the shoes. As I stood there with her shoes in my hand I felt a gentle tug and before I knew it a monkey had run away with her sandal! We tried everything to persuade the monkey to give us back the shoe. No luck as he chewed away at it! Luckily we didn't have to travel far for us to buy new slippers!

4. What is your favourite and least favourite Indian food? The list of favourites goes on and on :) I love Khichdi, Dahi Vada (but only when my MIL makes it!), Kadhi, and the basic Daal Chawal. Least favourite would be Dhokla, Paan, and Kheer.

5. Come up with one uniting quality of Indian culture and your culture. Tough question! I would have to say family is a uniting quality. I can't say for rest of Canada or all of India but where I come from family is an important factor of life.

6. What is your favourite Indian festival and why? I love Janmashtami simple because it was the first festival we spent together as a family. And of course I love Diwali!

I nominate:
1. Marianne from My Happy Bubble
2. Nadia from Miel and Mint
3. Kaylin from Boho Voyage
4. Norina from Norina mm
5. Emi from Well Traveled Wife

Here are my questions for the nominees:
1. Why did you become a blogger?
2. Where do you see your blog going?
3. Where's your dream vacation?
4. Tell us an unforgettable moment in your life.
5. What advice do you have for fellow bloggers?

  1. I like the monkey story! I myself have mixed feelings about them. They are cute, but too naughty. They take our flowers out of pots and eat those few mangoes, that we get on our tree!
Thank you for answering and passing it on! :)
